Biography
Dr. Stefanie Buechner is a professor of the Sociology of Digital Societies at Leibniz University in Hannover, Germany. She studied Social Work in Hamburg, Zurich and Berlin (Dipl. FH) and Sociology at Bielefeld University (M.A.). Her research focuses on how organizations are not only drivers of digital transformations but also shape how digital technologies influence our society. Using a broad range of qualitative approaches, especially ethnography and interviews, she analyses public organizations like youth welfare services, administrations, police organizations, and hospitals. Her work analyses the integration of algorithms in organizations, data sharing and data work, and tensions between digital infrastructures and organizational logics.
