Innovation Zone presentation: (Co)Designing in Co-Production – Lessons Learned, by University of South Wales

This presentation will delve into the innovative strategies employed by the University of Wales’ research team during the National Evaluation of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014. The aim was to incorporate co-production principles directly into the study design. Over the course of the four-year study, which faced interruptions due to COVID-19, they encountered both successes and challenges in this endeavour.

They will discuss these experiences, as well as the strengths and limitations of developmental evaluation approaches, particularly ‘Principles-Focused Evaluation’ (Patton, 2018). Led by Prof. Mark Llewellyn and Prof. Fiona Verity, the presentation will also draw upon insights from an extensive sub-study conducted within the project, focusing on the experiences of individuals striving to integrate co-productive practices in response to the Act’s requirements (Andrews, Calder, Blanluet, and Baker, 2023).
