Biography
Joan Mayoral Simón has coordinated the Barnahus Strategy to address all forms of sexual violence against children and adolescents in Catalonia through an integrated approach, leading to the implementation of 13 Barnahus centres covering the whole region.
He holds a degree in Law and Psychology, a master’s degree in High Managerial Function from the Catalan School for Public Administration, and a specialisation in Public Law from the University of Barcelona. He has expertise in witness evidence from the University of Girona and in legal and forensic psychology from the University of Valencia.
Previous roles: Director of Territorial Services of the Department of Home Affairs in Girona. Director of Girona’s shelter for children and adolescents in distress. Lawyer at the Legal Office of the Catalan Government and Public Prosecutor. Associate Professor at the University of Girona and the Catalan School of Police. Lecturer and teacher in master’s and postgraduate degrees. He has published papers in the legal and child protection areas.
