Lidia Giglio

Representative to the EU, SOS Children’s Villages International

Biography

Lidia Giglio is the Representative to the European Union for SOS Children’s Villages International, where she leads the organisation’s advocacy efforts on children’s rights, child protection, and youth empowerment across EU institutions.  

 She brings over a decade of experience in humanitarian advocacy, child protection, development cooperation, and human rights, with a strong track record in policy engagement, project management, and institutional partnerships. Before joining SOS CVI, Lidia spent nearly ten years at the International Rescue Committee (IRC), advancing advocacy strategies and supporting humanitarian programs across the Middle East and Asia.  

Earlier in her career, she worked at the European Parliament’s Human Rights Action Unit and in the non-profit sector in Italy, focusing on social inclusion initiatives for vulnerable children and families.  

 Lidia holds a European Master’s in Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC) and degrees in International Relations and Political Science from the University of Roma Tre.
