Nic has worked across children and adult services for over twenty years; He has championed self-determination and self-directed support for all in need of support from the earliest days of individual budgets.

His focus has always been on getting it right from the start of a person’s life, and much of his work is centred on challenging people and services to do a better job of supporting children and young people. 

Getting it right means getting the support right, which means being person-centred is a core strength of Small Supports organisations.

He works closely with people of all ages with lived experience, families, governments, organisations, health services and local authorities, supporting work across Europe as well as in the UK to end the institutionalisation of people.
