Biography
Sophie Hæstorp Andersen is the Danish Minister for Social Affairs and Housing and was appointed in August 2024.
She was first elected as a member of the Danish Parliament at the age of 27 for the Social Democratic Party before she entered regional and local politics as Chairperson of the Capital Region in Denmark and later Lord Mayor of Copenhagen. The Minister holds a Master’s in Political Science from the University of Copenhagen.
Social services, healthcare and housing policy have been Sophie Hæstorp Andersen’s focus throughout her political career and to ensure political solutions that are of great value to citizens in need and society as a whole.
As Minister for Social Affairs and Housing, Sophie Hæstorp Andersen is in charge of the government’s policy of reforming and improving the social services and housing policy, as well as ensuring inclusion, dignity and support for the most vulnerable citizens in society.
At the conference, the Minister will share her experience of working with social services at both local, regional and national levels. She will also present how she as a Minister works to ensure that social services are accessible for citizens, provide support in a meaningful way and make use of innovative tools.
