Dr Chris Papadopoulos is a principal lecturer in public health and director of health research at the University of Bedfordshire. He teaches on a range of health post-graduate health courses in particular the MSc Public Health course. He is research active in a range of health-related areas within the social sciences particularly culturally competent social robotics, health technology, stigma, autism, mental health, inclusion and accessibility. He is a contributor to the Spectator, makes regular media related contributions and appearances, and is also the founder and lead of the London Autism Group Charity. He played a leading role in the EU H2020 and Japanese-funded CARESSES study that developed and tested a culturally competent artificial intelligence embedded into a socially assistive robot that was then trialled among older adults residing in care settings in England and Japan.
